Detection Methods
(1) Dissolution: Dissolve D-glucosamine sulfate in a solvent at 0°C; the solvent is a saturated ammonium sulfate solution or dimethyl sulfoxide; the weight-to-volume ratio of D-glucosamine sulfate to the solvent is 100 mg: 1 ml; filter the solution to obtain a solid;
(2) Detection: Detect the obtained solid with chloride and sulfate ions according to the detection methods for potassium chloride (or sodium chloride) and potassium sulfate (or sodium sulfate); the detection methods for chloride and sulfate ions are based on Appendix VIII A (Chloride Test) and Appendix VIII B (Sulfate Test) of the 2010 edition of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia, Part II;
(3) Judgment: Based on the results of the above detection of chloride and sulfate ions, determine the D-glucosamine sulfate prepared by different methods. The salts are distinguished as follows: In a saturated ammonium sulfate solution, the completely soluble form is either D-glucosamine sulfate (potassium chloride) or D-glucosamine sulfate (sodium chloride). If there is an insoluble residue of potassium sulfate, the original product is a mixture of D-glucosamine hydrochloride and potassium sulfate; if there is an insoluble residue of sodium sulfate, the original product is a mixture of D-glucosamine hydrochloride and sodium sulfate. In dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), if the insoluble residue is potassium chloride, the original product is D-glucosamine sulfate (potassium chloride); if the insoluble residue is sodium chloride, the original product is D-glucosamine sulfate (sodium chloride). In dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), if the insoluble residue is potassium sulfate, the original product is a mixture of D-glucosamine hydrochloride and potassium sulfate; if the insoluble residue is sodium sulfate, the original product is a mixture of D-glucosamine hydrochloride and sodium sulfate.
Applications: D-glucosamine sulfate is a white crystalline powder, odorless, with a slightly salty taste. It is readily soluble in water, slightly soluble in methanol, and insoluble in organic solvents such as ethanol. It is used as a pharmaceutical raw material.
